Wondering what our chapters are up to? Look no further as we highlight some of the amazing work of our chapters.
Thailand- The first EduSTEM Thailand workshop sequence was held at a youth drug rehabilitation center this summer. The workshops allowed participants to learn how chemistry can be applied to creating environmentally friendly soap, a great way to learn STEMX in tandem with conservation! San Mateo, California- EduSTEM San Mateo is projected to hold their 13th workshop by the end of this year! In partnership with the City of San Mateo and San Mateo Library, the participants from generally lower-income neighbors have had the opportunity to learn engineering, computer science, physics, space sciences, and so much more! Not only that, but EduSTEM San Mateo started when our chapter founder was in just eight grade! Istanbul, Turkey- Our Turkey chapter founder has already met with a local community center in Istanbul to prepare for a week-long STEMX camp she will be holding this winter. Along the way, smaller workshops at the community center are on the way, geared primarily towards under-served communities. Boston, Massachusetts- Our Boston chapter leader is incredibly passionate about neuroscience and hopes to bring his passion to youths in his area. He is teaming up with the largest student organization at Phillips Exeter Academy to bring neuroscience workshops to underprivileged communities around the school. We are so excited that so many people are on board and super grateful to have such a dedicated member of EduSTEM. Trumbull, Connecticut- Our Trumbull chapter is piloting our partnership initiative with 3CY to bring STEMX3DPrinting to her local library! Supplied with curriculum and a 3D printer shipped to her for free, she's ready to get things started with this novel project. Our chapter leaders mean so much to us! Stay tuned for our next post about the other half of our chapter leaders and their work.
